A special THANK YOU to Advanced Racing Suspensions, and Stealth Chassis for a great night!

Garrett ran nearly 180+ laps in a Scooter Ellis Chili Bowl midget at  Paragon Indiana's 3/8 mile clay oval. Everything from pushing-off to shutting down, Garrett was able to learn nearly all aspects of running a prestigious dirt midget. He had a great time and has made a new leap in learning how different genre cars react differently to throttle, brake, and steering inputs. Again, it was so great to have Scooter, Joey, Corey, Tony, and TNT there! Thanks again guys!

Garrett Rider Featured in Newsstand Ad Campaign!

Garrett Rider is currently featured in the SEMA MPMC "Take a Friend to the Races" ad campaign. This ad will be used in multiple newsstand publications like Hot Rod, Car Craft, Circle Track and many of the 152 magazine titles published by the likes of Source Interlink (formerly Peterson Publishing) and other popular magazines. Ads will be ran between now and August for the 2009 campaign. The ads are to promote motorsports in general and are focused on August as the Motorsports Awareness month. Many participating race tracks will have free tickets available to current fans so they can take their "non-racer" friends to the races.

“Take a Friend” Motorsports Promotional Program Takes Off

The new program from the Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) to promote attendance at motorsports events and raise public awareness of the motorsports industry is taking off. MPMC Select Committee members who exhibited at the 2008 SEMA Show used the opportunity to promote the program from their booths, and a looping PowerPoint presentation in the MPMC council booth featured several promotional slides.

“We received a lot of favorable feedback at the SEMA Show,” said MPMC Chairman Bill Floyd. “Once people understand that this campaign is so simple and that the logos, video and ads are for their own use and their own promotions, you can see the light bulbs go on.”

Ads such as the one shown on this page will be appearing in various motorsports and automotive publications. Ad slicks are available in PDF format in various standard sizes and will feature different themes to reflect the many disciplines of motorsports, including NASCAR, NHRA, sprint cars, off-road racing and more. Ad slicks may be ordered from the MPMC website at
www.sema.org/mpmc.

“Track operators and sanctioning bodies, especially, are already formulating promotions and campaigns using ‘Take a Friend’ as the theme,” Floyd said. “And manufacturers are promising to package the logo and possibly some ad pieces in with product. As we move into spring, we’re hoping to bring out additional artwork that will focus on August as Motorsports Awareness month. It’s starting to come to life now.”

The establishment of August as Motorsports Awareness Month is a key component to the campaign. It is officially registered by MPMC on Chase’s Calendar of Events, which lists more than 12,000 entries and is used by media, libraries and businesses as the official source for information on special events and holidays.

“I can’t wait until August,” said MPMC Select Committee member Rick Sparks of COMP Cams. “The ‘Take a Friend’ idea is a good one all by itself. But focusing everyone’s attention on a particular month means a whole lot of promotions will be going on all over the country in many different venues. And I firmly believe that the end result will be increased attendance at motorsports events.”

The MPMC is a SEMA council that is dedicated to representing the collective interests of all SEMA-member companies that manufacture parts used in sanctioned racing events. The council also strives to develop effective strategies for dealing with industry-specific issues. Anyone interested in joining the MPMC should visit
www.sema.org/mpmc or contact Council Liaison Jim Skelly.

Our apologizes to our friends at Illinois Frame. Typically Illinois Frame - Tractor/Trailer - Parts and Service is a  big sponsor on the race car's wing. However, after Garrett got upside down August 29 we've had to run our spare wing without the normal graphics.  Sorry Tinker!

Special thanks to Jeff, Sandy, Zach, Aaron, Grandma, and Grandpa Rider for traveling 5 hours from Illinois to see the big wins!

Garrett wins last nights heat race!

Running second in the feature he had mud accumulate in his front wheels putting them out of balance to the point that he could not steer the car. Next week he'll have a newly developed and tested Weld Racing right front non-beadlock mud-cover wheel available for the heavy racetrack as needed.

Here are some cool shoots of Garrett and Griffin...

Top 5 Finish - Saturday Night!

As newbies to the sport we've had a lifetime of carb issues the past 3 races. There have been many helpful suggestions from numerous people. Our family's involvement with racing goes back to 1981 and the Sweet Springs crowd is as good as any when it comes to helping others.
This past weekend Bill Nolker volunteered his carbs to us and we finally finished a race under power. Forget our finish... the isolation and ultimate diagnosis of the problem was the key! Thanks again Bill!

Also, a special thanks to Roger Conley at Racepak Data Systems for expediting the EGT sensors, and Tom Henson at Weld Racing Wheels for his fabrication support!
